Yala

How to reach
By Car/Taxi: from Colombo
Duration: Approximately 5–6 hours (300 km).
Route: Take the Southern Expressway (E01) from Colombo to Matara, then continue on the A2 coastal road through Hambantota to reach Yala.
By Train and Taxi:
Step 1: Take a train from Colombo Fort to Matara or Hambantota.
Step 2: Hire a taxi or tuk-tuk to Yala (2–3 hours).
Duration: Around 8–9 hours total.

Season
February to June: Dry season is ideal for wildlife viewing as animals gather around water sources.

Off season
Avoid Rainy Season (September to December): The park may close during heavy rains, and wildlife sightings can be less frequent.

Timing
Safaris are usually conducted in the early morning (6:00 AM – 9:00 AM) or late afternoon (3:00 PM – 6:00 PM) when animals are most active.
